With a sudden influx of shopping malls opening in Abu Dhabi, it seems the UAE capital is fast-establishing itself as a Middle Eastern haven for shopaholics!

We’re excited about this new development, especially as Abu Dhabi has traditionally lagged behind its neighbouring emirate Dubai in terms of retail space.

Plus, with each mall that opens, we’re treated to a wider range of brands (both high street and designer), as well as restaurants, entertainment facilities, and more.

That’s especially true with World Trade Center Mall (WTC Mall), which commenced operations this month with more than 160 shops, 20 dining outlets and an eight-screen cinema - all contained within the iconic design and architecture of Sir Norman Foster.

Boasting a prime location on the site of Abu Dhabi’s old Central Market, one of the mall’s biggest attractions is department store House of Fraser. In fact, this is the British retail giant’s first flagship store outside of the UK and Ireland (where it has 60 outlets).

Spread over a massive 100,000 square feet, House of Fraser has four floors of clothing, shoes, accessories, home and beauty products from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Versace Jeans, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Carolina Herrera, in addition to an exclusive Hello Kity Spa for mothers and daughters.

And if you’re hungry after a spot of retail therapy, WTC Mall has brought the popular burger joints Shake Shack and Fat Burger to the UAE capital, together with P.F. Chang's. Other tenants include resident-favourites Starbucks, Costa Café and Brioche Doree.

"The World Trade Center Mall completes the transformation of Abu Dhabi's historic Central Market area, which was - and now remains - the heart of shopping in the capital,” commented Mohammed Al Mubarak, Deputy Chief Executive at Aldar Properties in a press release.

“The development also signifies Aldar's contribution to the forward-looking vision of Abu Dhabi's future, through a place where unique experiences happen,” he added.

The World Trade Center Abu Dhabi is a mixed-use development that comprises five major assets: the WTC Souk with 250 retail outlets, the WTC Offices with 59 floors of premium office space, the WTC Residences with 474 luxurious units, and the WTC Mall. It will also feature a Courtyard Marriott Hotel with 195 rooms and direct access to the Mall and Souk.
